These are some of the images that i am using to build up the paper sculptures to display the suburb buildings and its surrounding.

reference

These is an article that I found this morning from the METRO today.I put it in my blog because it has an element that is similar to my paper sculptures(such as line and texture and also they are made out of papers.)They are paper sculpture made from cut-up accountants' ledgers by Jill Sylvia. She created this famous buildings by cutting out tens of thousands of paper squares. She creates grids using the boxes on the paper.Basically she was inspired by her father(who is an accountant)to produce these sculptures.

These are screen grabs of animation from the Universal Everything.Video directed by Karsten Schmidt. It was produced for Advanced Beauty Film Series project. It is really fantastic short film. The combination of the moving image and the audio are effective.I like it because it has an element ( such as colours and textures) that i am trying to achieve with my animation that will display about the suburb architectural houses.Basically in this particular short film, the movement of the objects seems as if they are floating in an open air space.Because there is no image (in the background) that contradicts with the colour and texture of the moving sculptures. You can clearly see the beauty of the moving sculptures with the timing of the soundtrack. It is effective even though there is no texts or words in the film.I can say that the audio gives the moving images more life.Without the soundtrack, the movement doesn't give sense at all. This is something i want to use in my animation.

These are some of the artworks produced by different artists in different art movements(such as Constructivism,Cubism,Futurism, and New Generation or Minimalism.I like their artworks because it creates good composition using lines, shapes, colors, and textures. They have got elements that i want to use in my triangular sculptures that represents the suburb architectural building in Birmingham. All these art works produced with different mark making techniques(including the collage, physical sculpture or materials and painting techniques.)The way they display texts with images is one thing that i like about these art works. For instance the first art work by Stepanova, was produced using photographic image of building along with some other collaged papers (with texts to give it more life.)It is obvious that the Constructivism was influenced by the works of Pablo Picaso, who has produced artworks using bits of cardboard, string, and other odd items.

The above artwork is by Stepanova,Varvara Fedorovna

The above work is by Barque,George.Again the Cubism art movement is one of the basis for my triangular sculptures. His work gave me an idea how to display architectural landscape.

A contemporary critic,Louis Vauxcelles, stated that Braque 'despices form and reduces everything, landscapes and figures and houses,to geometric patterns,to cubes'.The accusation is understandable but unjust. The details here may be disregarded(no doors or windowsin the houses,no leaves on the trees)- Braque does not even distinguish between the houses and the hills that surround them - yet he makes strenuous efforts to give a sense of reality in terns of palpable mass and three-dimensional depth. Source: The World's Greates Art (Modern Art) by Michael Kerrigan

According to Braque 'The senses deform, the mind forms'.If we see his artwork that displays House at L'Estaque, you can tell that they look like houses because of their three dimensional form even though they don't have the basic things that makes them like a real house. He just used some tree and paint the cubes with different perspectives.I am using the smae techniques to display those suburban landscape by adding some textures to the triangular objects. You can tell by looking the textures on the papers what those pyramid shape are about.I want to show the viewers the suburban landscape using the same method Braque applied.Just by using different texture o papers together with texts and colors.

Sketch book work

The followings are some of the images that inspires me to produce the triangular shape sculptures. The images shows the Victorian time English house which has got the pyramidic shape at the top of each house.I thought this unique shape has got some cultural references like the pyramid in Egypt. So i decided to find out more about the Victorian time suburb houses. This leads me to made research about other triangular shapes architecture built in Birmingham and some other countries.Although i couldn't get any traditional or cultural background that has related to the triangular shape,i came up with an idea to display this unique shape in a graphic way.The sculptures that i made represents those triangular shape houses.Above all the forms and the different textures that surrounds the triangle has given me the direction to produce lots of that shapes with different colors and materials.

Some of the animation that displays suburbs architectural structures. The primary aim of these animations are to show different structures that is combination of colors, textures, line, texts, shade, volume, and materials in an abstract way.
